Pollution

In general, the adage, “reduce, reuse, recycle” should be codified into law.

Right to Repair

  • Require that items made from multiple materials and components can be repaired by consumers.

E-Waste

  • Require that all electronics manufacturers accept and responsibly recycle everything they sell. This can include compelling and meaningful deposit-and-return laws.

Prevent runoff pollution

  • Restore marshes, wetlands and other natural runoff filtration zones

Address Plastic Pollution

  • Ban single-use plastic bags, plastic-based cigarette butts, and other major forms of plastic pollution
  • Fund research into alternatives to plastics used in clothing.
  • Fund research into biodegradable bags and containers.
  • Upgrade waste water treatment plants to filter out water-borne micro-plastics
  • Phase out completely the production, distribution and sale of petrochemical-based plastics by 2040
  • Fund research into efficient plastic biodegradation
